Mine does that too, and it's not even a month old.

Yeah, happens. Seems to help if you leave it on 'hold' when you're not using it--keeps it from turning on in your bag, pocket, whatever. Also, if you have any plugins for it, like a radio transmitter or speakers, odds are they run off the iPod battery, so unplug them when you aren't using them.

The upshot of all this is that the batteries charge super fast.
