Today I learned how to do RA-4 color printing. It's not all that hard, although figuring out color balance issues can be a real pain. After many many hours in the school darkroom making contact sheets and then prints, I am tired (so very tired) but feel successful.

Do you ever give photography lessons? I have been wanting to take a class but my schedule doesn't seem to ever work out so that I can. I saw some of your work at one of Ammoerette's birthday parties and it was amazing. Is that something you would consider?

To be perfectly honest, you're the first one to ask in the larger sense—I've had people ask me to show them how to print and how darkroom stuff works, but not general photography per se. I'm flattered, but I'm not entirely sure how much I can teach—I can be a critic (in the larger sense, not the naysayer the word has come to mean, although saying no is an important part of criticism) and I can teach someone how to technically operate a camera, but because I don't know myself how it is I learned to see, nor do I have any idea what goes on in my brain when I take photos, so I don't know that I can pass that knowledge on in a useful fashion.

The best advice anybody ever gave me was shoot a lot and review everything; that is, look at every shot you made, and try to analyze why it worked or didn't. This is hard.

So, perhaps a better question would be: Would you be willing to spend some time hanging out with me and showing me how to technically operate a camera ~~ then perhaps reviewing and discussing with me after I shoot a lot?? :)

Certainly! I'm very busy at the moment, but I hope that it will ease up soonish and then I can free up time for more interesting pursuits.

Excellent! I would appreciate that so very much! I love taking pictures and have been playing around with shadows and framing, but it is completely a amateur venture on my little digital camera (though I am having a blast!). I would love to learn more about actual photography and the art of using a "real" camera.

I'm not sure if Ammorette has mentioned it, but I have moved back to Simi, so I am much closer now. If you would like to email me at gedwards55@gmail.com I can give you my phone number. That way when you have some free time we can plan a time to get together. Yay! I am so excited now!

THANK YOU!
