Have I mentioned that we get the best politicians in the world back home? Down here, people just accuse each other of being in league with terrorists.
(It occurs to me that I should mention something I took for granted. In Canadian parlance, a "Tory" is a member of the Conservative party and a "Grit" is a member of the Liberal party.)
Project Invitation
Date: 2004-10-10 07:58 pm (UTC)It occurs to me that I am involved in a research group you might be interested in. We are currently working on improving the AI research done by Eric Baum at whatisthought.com, specifically the Hayek Machines outlined in http://whatisthought.com/manif5.ps [58 pages] and http://whatisthought.com/ptech.pdf [8 pages].
The group consists of STUDENTS with interests in Market Economics, Evolution, Hofstadter's theories of intelligence (ie CopyCat), and Genetic Programming. We are going to write a Common Lisp program advancing the ideas seen in Hayek4 as outlined in the second link above.
Previous experience isn't required, we'd be happy to get you up to speed. Currently I am the only programming member of the team, so I'd be nice to have another Lisper on board :)
Oh, and the current code is at http://lithp.org/s1.cl No comments. It evolves a set of agents to sort a list. Version 2 will evolve a solution to the towers of hannoi problem.
If you are interested at this point, either email me at dls@umail.ucsb.edu or just show up. We meet 6pm - 9pm Mondays and Wednesdays at CCS(building 494) in the Comp Sci lab (I don't remember the room number, but the door will be open).
Looking forward to hear from you,
David Salamon
