Last night at dinner, David Roth, layah,
eliensign and I were talking about philosophy, and I voiced the opinion that every time I have been offered a choice between happiness and knowledge (that is, between being blissfully ignorant and knowing the truth but being depressed by it) I have, with 100% probability, chosen knowledge.
David noted that everybody at the table was on antidepressants because we all always chose knowledge over blissful ignorance, which was quite funny at the time but strikes me as mildly alarming in retrospect.
I ran across this article in the Atlantic earlier today, and it has made me think somewhat about my own experiences with multitasking.
