Some of you may be aware, in a vague way, of the abuse I suffered when I moved to the US at the hands of my normative peers. I don't talk much about it because it's in the past. However, recently Ben Cox, a teenager in New South Wales, Australia has been awarded $1,000,000 AUS in compensation for the utter refusal of the school board to do anything about his abuse. Cox is on lifetime disability for PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorder.
Here, Brad Hicks has a pretty decent article on the subject, and in less detail but still worth reading is John Birmingham.
I'm hesitant to register an opinion at this time, but I can testify from personal experience that this sort of thing can leave scars that take decades to heal if they ever do, and I had it mild compared to Cox.
