Original parts remaining after graphics card "upgrade":
  • Case
  • CPU
  • Motherboard
  • Hard drive
  • DVD drive
  • One stick of memory
Parts replaced/upgraded/bought:
  • New CPU fan
  • Two case fans
  • New power supply
  • NVidia 6600
  • One stick of memory
On the other hand at least my CPU runs at 45 C instead of 72 C now.

Eh. You're not hardcore until you're dependant on charge cooling. ;)

Well, yes, fine, but I'm not and don't want to be hardcore hardware-wise any more; the fact that I've been trying to debug why this thing freezes up for most of June pisses me off. (Turned out to be an incompatibility between the new memory stick and one of the memory slots on the motherboard; moving it to a different slot fixed the problem)

I was just trying to be funny. That said, it's incredible that they can't make compatability work.

I understand, it's just been a sore point for a little while. And yes, I'm immensely irritated with this whole thing; PC hardware pisses me off to no end, and I generally have good luck with things.
